"This torso, created in Tuscany using the clay from the local mountains. I made the torso using an original art method of coiling for sculpture or pots. The properties of the clay with the white bloom (pictured) is called Galestro, and has lime/calcium deposits in the clay which means that after being heated to a high temperature it needs to be thoroughly soaked in water to render it stable. To me the finished piece is reminiscent of the Etruscan period.
